Started on the case assembly. Completed pages 13-19 of the assembly manual. This basically gets to the point that the case is bolted together with cam, crank and lifters installed.
The cylinder head studs were installed after the case was bolted together for convenience working on the bench. Loctite was used on the studs, a step used in the Great Planes assembly manual but not mentioned in the Sonex manual.
A simple tool is made from a coat hanger to retain the lifters while lowering the left case half (pg 18, step 17). The tool is about 3" long with ~1" coils and the tips bent out 90 degrees to press against the inside of the lifters.
Painted the cylinders with Rust-Oleum 7778 Bar-B-Q flat black high heat enamel.
